The State of Georgia requests competitive bids on three (3) intertidal water bottoms leases conveying exclusive commercial shellfish harvest rights. Each of the lease areas is approximately thirty six (36) acres and situated along the southeastern side of the Mud River adjacent to state lands including Sapelo Island, McIntosh County. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Chart (#11510) generally describes the area including depth soundings. The intertidal water bottoms include existing wild clam (Mercenaria mercenaria) and wild oyster (Crassostrea virginica) beds and are conducive for cultivation/planting and sustainable harvest. Management plans should primarily focus on production plans and husbandry techniques for the cultivation of the existing and future wild oyster and clam beds. These areas may also support intertidal oyster and clam mariculture. Acceptable bids shall include no less than a Five Hundred and Forty U.S. dollar ($540) bid per lease, submitted in the form of a refundable cashier’s or certified check and shall further include a detailed ten year management and business plan for the property. Bids must be marked received at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Resources Division’s Brunswick Headquarters no later than 4:30 p.m. November 6 th, 2020. Leases will be awarded in partial consideration of the dollar amount of the bid; however, the primary and decisive consideration will be the bidder’s submission of the most comprehensive management/business plan for the property.
