Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to authority set forth below, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources proposes amendments to the Rules of Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division, Chapter 391-2-4, Saltwater Fishing Regulations.  This is a notice of proposed amendments to the rules to reflect the deliberations of the Coastal Committee of the Board of Natural Resources at its June 26, 2012 meeting.

Atlanta

The purpose of the proposed amendment and repeal is to update, consolidate and streamline the description of the Department to reflect its current organizational structure.

Rule 391-1-1.01 – Organization. The current rule does not accurately reflect the structure of the Department as organized by the Commissioner. The Amended rule correctly describes the current organizational structure of the Department.

Rule 391-1-1.02 – Description and Duties of the Commissioner’s Office and Division. The current rule contains out-of-date descriptions of the organizational structure and is generally duplicative of Rule 391-1-1-.01. For these reasons, this rule is being recommended for repeal.

Complete Notice and Synopsis, together with an exact copy of the proposed amendment and repeal

To ensure their inclusion in the Department’s package for the Board of Natural, comments should be received by 4:30 p.m. on June 18, 2013.

Notice of Proposed Regulation Changes

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to authority contained in the Game and Fish Code (Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 27; O.C.G.A. §27-1-4), the Board of Natural Resources proposes to amend the Rules of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Saltwater Fishing Regulations, Chapter 391-2-4. The proposed amended Rule, when adopted, will prohibit the harvest of three species of hammerhead sharks (great, scalloped, and smooth) less that 78 inches, fork length.  This proposed amendment is required for Georgia to remain in compliance with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Coastal Sharks. In addition, two typographical errors were found in the October rules adopted by the Board. For both sharks and small shark composite, the minimum size was inadvertently changed to “total length”.  A correction to “fork length” will be made.
