Beach Advisory Lifted for Blythe Island Sandbar
Latest Beach Swimming Advisory Information
The Glynn County Health Department has lifted an advisory for the Blythe Island Sandbar (from South Brunswick River at Hwy. 303 to the bridge at Blythe Island Regional Park) in Glynn County.
The advisory was issued on April 12 after routine water quality tests showed a high level of enterococci bacteria which increase the risk of gastrointestinal illness in swimmers.
Subsequent water samples taken showed that the bacteria levels had dropped below Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended limits. Therefore, the advisory has been lifted.
