CRD hosted the 31st annual Kids Fishing Event, this year newly named in honor of late CRD marine biologist John Pafford, on June 7 in Brunswick. Seventy-five of the 100 registered youth participated and received angling education, a free rod and reel combo, tackle box, and lunch.
The weather cooperated nicely, and youth caught several species of fish, and even learned what to safely and ethically do when a terrapin gets caught on your line. Some music gave the event a festival feel, and the youngsters left with a not only their new rod and reels, but smiles.
