We'll have a booth set up from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in front of On The Fly Outfitters at the corner of Gloucester and Newcastle streets with marine life touch tanks, information about saltwater fishing and coastal management, and some great giveaways.

Join CRD for the 29th annual CoastFest, Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in Brunswick. CoastFest is an exciting annual event hosted by the Coastal Resources Division, dedicated to celebrating and educating the public about the rich coastal heritage and natural resources of our region. The festival brings together a wide range of activities, exhibits, and live entertainment, offering a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
The Marine Education and Outreach Unit of the Coastal Resources Division (CRD) is dedicated to promoting the sustainable use of coastal resources through education, outreach, and stakeholder engagement. The unit enhances public awareness of marine conservation and recreation by hosting fishing clinics, school programs, and community events.
It fosters a conservation ethic by collaborating with partner organizations, developing educational materials, and leveraging media campaigns. Through targeted outreach efforts, the unit aims to increase public participation in marine-related activities, ensuring that Georgia’s coastal resources are understood, appreciated, and conserved for future generations.

CRD's Signature Annual Events
Family Fishing Derbies
Join CRD marine biologists and staff for a hands-on fishing experience, where you'll learn the basics of knot tying, casting, reeling, and baiting hooks. Discover responsible fishing practices, enjoy complimentary food, and reel in local fish species—all with free provided gear and no fishing license required. Plus, DNR Law Enforcement Division game wardens will be on-site to ensure a safe and fun experience for all!

Held at St. Simons, Jekyll, and Tybee islands' beach accesses, the event features hands-on activities and exhibits about marine life, coastal conservation, and responsible beach stewardship. Visitors can expect to meet marine experts, explore touch tanks, and discover ways to protect the coast. Beach Week is a family-friendly event that encourages people of all ages to appreciate and care for Georgia’s beautiful shoreline.
