T1302 – Part-time Public Affairs Assistant*

Job Summary:
Under broad supervision, assists the Coastal Resources Division (CRD) public information and education staff in ongoing initiatives, including CoastFest, Kids Fishing Events and clinics, Coastlines magazine, visual communications and web presence. This is a year-round, part-time position in Brunswick, Ga.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in maintaining communication with internal and external customers, public and private organizations, governing authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Aids in planning outreach events and programs aimed at increasing the public’s awareness of CRD’s mission and vision.
- Manages social media accounts to provide timely content on a regular basis.
- Assists in writing articles for Coastlines magazine and press releases for broad distribution.
- Captures still and video imagery, utilizing nonlinear editing software to produce video packages, and participates in management of imagery database.
- Assists in content management of CRD website.
- Incumbent will work in a variety of conditions, including outside in coastal Georgia summers, on research vessels, occasionally on aircraft, and may sometimes be asked to lift up to 50 pounds.
Entry Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in public affairs communications.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere.
- Experience with web design, including basic knowledge of HTML code and CSS.
- Experience operating still and video cameras and conducting livestreams via web.
- Knowledge of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources mission and vision.
- Ability to represent the State of Georgia through excellent communication and customer service.
