The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced a temporary closure of the recreational Bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix) fishery in state waters for the months of March and April 2024. This action is necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Bluefish population along the Atlantic coast.
Georgia’s commercial and recreational food shrimp season closes at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. The closure affects Georgia’s territorial waters three nautical miles out to sea. Federal waters three to 200 nautical miles offshore remain open.
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to authority set forth below, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources proposes to amend Subject 391-2-1 of the Rules of the Department of Natural Resources to establish rules for private docks located over state-owned tidal water bottoms by amending Rules 391-2-1-.01 through 391-2-1-.08 and creating new Rule 391-2-1-.09.
