The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Coastal Resources Division (CRD) announces that the 2025 commercial and recreational food shrimp season will open in state waters at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will close the state’s salt waters to commercial and recreational oyster harvesting for human consumption effective 6 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025. The closure extends through midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, and applies to all salt waters from the Georgia-South Carolina state line to the Georgia-Florida border.
A Glennville man has officially tied the Georgia state saltwater record for dolphin (Coryphaena hippurus), also known as mahi mahi, after landing a massive 68-pound, 9.28-ounce fish off the Georgia coast earlier this month.
